I thought the reds were quite good.
I liked the whites better but again I spent more time with them since we only had 2 hours (not enough time btw)
I was especially impressed with the way a few 05’s showed. They were a little closed but quite enjoyable and you could tell their greatness.
Here are my favorites
2005 Dujac Vosne Romanee Malconsorts
There is everything here. Power. Complexity. Balance. Gorgeous fruit.
The finish is a little clipped and you don’t have the peacock tail “bacon fat” “La Tache” types of notes that this will develop. Profound and I can’t wait for my bottles to become gems.
2007 Dujac Vosne Romanee Malconsorts
This is like the Chambolle sister of the 2005. Lighter but complex. Plenty of fruit but it is less powerful. Plenty of length. I really like this.
1999 de Montille Taillepieds
Perfect Volnay in the darker fruit category. Balanced and long in the mouth. Encroyable.
2002 de Montille Taillepieds
Ditto but I think even more energy on the finish if you can believe that. Encroyable
2007 de Montille Taillepieds
This had everything the other two had but at a lower intensity level. An incredibly compelling early drinker.
2005 Angerville Clos des Ducs
Power. Sexy fruit. Freshness. Minerality. This just needs time. Profound.
2006/2007/2008 Duband Morey Clos des Sorbes
I was not expecting this. Transparency. Gorgeous aromatics. Darker fruit but with freshness. A lushness you found in the past in Truchot wines is still there. True to the vintage also. Each different. Exciting stuff and I am on the lookout.
2001/2002/2003 Roumier Bonne Mares
All three again are very much of the vintage. The 03 is almost “Rhone-like” in the ripeness and volume. The 01 is so balanced and quite long. The 02 to me was a little closed in but had the best material of the 3. All very very young!
