Wonderful exotic nose with soy, hoisin, currants, relatively light bodied and weightless but incredibly lithe and supple. Sneaky long finish.
Krug 164:
Firing on all cylinders out of 375. Super lemon zesty and brioche nose, intense palate with focus and depth, endless finish. Unlimited potential but great now.
17 Dujac CM:
More Dujac than CM. Would’ve guessed MSD blind. Sorta clunky and not integrated. Interesting nose but lacked depth on the mid palate. Desultory finish.
19 Nathalie vigot VR AC:
A wow wine after it got going. Vosne spice with some beautiful super pure fruits. Sappiness on the palate which was unexpected but welcome. Good acidity. Lovely delicate finish. Drinks above its level. A producer to watch.
Been looking for some CT notes on this producer but they are quite scant. Thanks for the notes, Envoyer used to offer these but have not seen any local offer in the last couple of years. Moreau is Bernard Moreau?
Thanks for the notes. I had the 2015 Moreau Chassagne Rouge on Friday and was seriously impressed. Nice mix of whole cluster aromatics, well-judged oak and red fruit. Punches way above its weight and totally outperformed in my view.

I bought some Vigot Nuit St Georges VV. 2014 kind of on a whim late last year, as the price was good and was astounded by the quality - went back and bought all they had left and a couple of Gevry Chambertain 2016s - sadly the VR’s were sold out and I’ve not been able to track anything down (in the UK) at anything like the price. Enjoying another bottle of the Nuits now Likewise, I found tasting notes (& info generally - e.g. nothing in Jasper’s book) scant and definitely agree a producer I will keep an eye on…
Apropos Vigot: I recently tried a 19’ Domaine Fabrice Vigot Gevrey Etelois (downhill from Griottes) that I liked quite a lot. (Intriguing balance of red and black fruit/wood/acid and a bit of that nice Pinot funk. CT March 2022)
Fabrice is/was vineyard manager for Mugneret-Gibourg since the 90s and until 2016, supplier of grapes to the sisters under a crop sharing agreement. His grapes apparently contributed to their Vosne Columbiere(?).
Given the reds made by producers like Moreau and Ramonet, I am not sure these wines punch way above their weight as much as we don’t appreciate their “weight” enough. In the past several years, I have become a big fan of CM reds. And, Moreau is just a great wine producer. Thankfully, still underappreciated.
