TN'S Mini Vertical of Evesham Wood La Grive Bleue

Enjoyed a mini vertical of this dependable bottling of Willamette Pinot Noir on xmas eve with mixed grill of lamb and salmon.

2005 – Vibrant, powerful nose leading to a brambly dark fruited palate with an assertive acidity that was not off putting. Plenty of secondary notes of earth and forest floor. A very nice wine and representative of it’s vintage in all the right ways.

2006 – Silky, pretty wine with a pure light red fruit. Low acid but not flabby. Just very pure and great texture.

2007 – A bit muddled at this point. Think this needs another year to bring tannin, acid, and fruit into balance. Should have the stuffing to be nice in another 6-12 months.

Thanks for the notes. I didn’t keep any 05s but my some recent tastes of the 06 and 07 were similar to yours. I am actually planning on holding onto 1 of my 07s for quite awhile. I am curious what it will be like in 8-9 years.

Nice combination! Thanks for the notes on these excellent QPR wines. I also have the WV bottlings going back to '04 and plan to do something similar, just for fun. With salmon as well!

I have 3 more of the 07’s so I will report back as I open them (probably won’t open another for several months).
