Some minimalist notes from wines over Easter weekend:
1998 Vilmart Cuvee Creation
Corked.
NV Billecart Salmon Rose
Oxidized.
1990 Pol Roger Brut
Mushroomy goodness. In a good place.
1996 Henriot Brut Millésimé
Expansive citrus and cream (near bottles end). So young.
1981 Heredia Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva
Bottle variation, elegant autumnal nose but thin.
2003 Pira Marenca
Potential but tannic/young.
2005 Etude Pinot Noir
Decent Cali example, but palate shift prohibits pleasure.
2006 Carlisle Syrah Sonoma
Massive, dense fruit, oak.
I don’t like the way this sounds. I have a magnum on deck for dinner next week during Flannery Fest II.
It was old label with questionable storage… took a flyer
Mine is a brand new label and just arrived in the merchant’s inventory within the past month or so.
You’ll be fine Tex.
Also forgot to add:
1999 La Jota Anniversary Howell Cabernet
Black olives, Northern Rhone, likey.
It was much better on night 2, very bdx like with no signs of heat damage. I did not like it one bit on night one, I just think it needed alot more air.
For an off-vintage based (2001) NV H. Billiot Brut Reserve, I thought it showed fairly well. ![cheers [cheers.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/0/0ff9bfcdb0964982cd3240b6159868fbdf215b1a.gif)
Perhaps Pete thought it was forgettable? ![wow [wow.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/7/7d450e9830889c8943b674446a21b7254cad657e.gif)
