Tns: 2012 Denis Mortet Marsannay 'Les Longerois'

I have not had much exposure to Mortet but did purchase a few '14s and spied this on a list in Sydney.

On opening a fair whack of grated ginger greeted the nostrils, in fact was almost ginger nut biscuits, then waves of fleshy redcurrants. Still very primary, but with a real vivacity. On the palate it has good volume and richness, more red fruit spectrum, nice base of classy oak. Has a Rousseau feel from more modest climes. Really good drinking at this level. Lovely.

Good call. One of my favorite red Burgundy wines priced under $50.

Marsannay can be a good hunting ground. Love what Fournier are doing there too.
