Head to head, this is a fun comparison.
TN: 1983 Cantemerle, Medoc. Still fresh on the nose – this bottle, though not my last. A lighter wine, but lovely tobacco and left bank character. Cedar. Dirt. Sure, it’s a bit drying on the end, but it really becomes juicy and super with food in the decanter. Elegant and, with several hours of air, almost compelling. Decant for several hours. $60 (recently). A very solid 91 points.
TN: 2000 Cantemerle, Medoc. All this needs is more time. Totally drinkable now, but there is a bit more to unfurl. Not dissimilar to the 83 in profile – just hiding it’s elegance. $44 (recently). 90(+?) points.
