TNs: 18 top quality pinot noirs from NZ, US and Burgundy with Peter

Great tasting. Every time i’m down in NZ, I bring US wines and we have a blind US vs. NZ wine challenge.

The first version we did 3 flights of Pinots at different ages (2 NZ and 2 US in each). I don’t have my notes from that but recall NZ won 2 of the flights and definitely took a points decision overall.

The second version we did a flight of chardonnay, a flight of syrah and a flight of bordeaux/bordeaux blends. The US won all 3 flights and took the overall points decision.

Not sure what we’ll do next time, probably go the mixed flights route again. The US doesn’t do aromatics that well. I might be tempted to go with Chardonnay and Pinot but throw in Burgundy as well.
