TNs--08 Navarro Gewurtz, 04 Beauregard, 98 Manzone

2008 Navarro Gewurtztraminer

The floral and tropical aromatics fill the room, extremely perfumed stuff. This is nice to taste, with some freshness to the melon, lychee and even smidge of pineapple lurking in there. Not super-extraordinary, but very expressive wine.

2004 Chateau Beauregard

This does present with some tobacco box and raspberry and currant fruit input. Carries itself well, if light-bodied. Everything is in relative balance and there’s a nip of herbs to the tart red fruit. No real hard edges, yet still with acidity. Good for an 04, a lunch quaffer (which it was)

1998 Manzone Barolo La Gramolere

Some nose on this, screams strawberry jam and red roses, like mom grows in the garden. Really something and there’s also a fair lick of funkiness at the back end of the bouquet. This starts out tight and opens up a little in the glass. I’d characterize it as a little on the lean side with glints of blackberries to go with raspberry and some leather. Doesn’t stay with you but again, a nice drink on the whole.
