Sorry for the clickbait!
But man, this is a good one. Despite what CT claims it is a Rosso di Toscana IGT but from grapes grown in Chianti Rufina. The production was a massive 1350 bottles so it is surprising to find it on the shelves at this age but boy am I happy I did. It is juicy and drinkable as hell with a wonderful developed profile, traditional Sangiovese at its most transparent and at a great phase. I will be returning to the well.
EDIT: Just realized that this was closed with Nomacorc, making it by far the oldest wine I’ve tasted that used this synthetic closure. Impressive!

2010 Fattoria Cerreto Libri Chianti Rùfina Padronale IGT - Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Rùfina (21.1.2023)
Super aromatic on the nose with hauntingly beautiful sour cherry fruit, dust, leather, a tiny bit of spicy oak and a wonderful hint of truffle. Awfully pretty with excellent depth and detail and such a sense of place that nailing this blind would not be a meaningful feat at all. On the palate this is on the richer side of medium bodied with an absolutely velvety mouthfeel. I reckon it has had some structure in its youth as despite having all the angles smoothened out it is still remarkably lifted with good grip. It’s the real deal Holyfield, i.e. dry, thoroughly savory and refreshing with the 13.5% not apparent really, although there is something powerful about it. The long finish has a lip-smacking quality to it and overall the evaporation rate is tremendous. Overall this is a tremendous bottle or traditional Sangiovese (blend), a definite rebuy.
