Great time with some of the usual suspects. Unusually poor performance from some of the bottles, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.
WEDNESDAY AT LUCIAN - (10/7/2026)
Opener
- 2012 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut - France, Champagne
Open and recork 3 hours. Very dialed in and open. Surprisingly soft luscious for the vintage. Doesn't need as much air as it did a couple of years ago.
2022 Lafon
- 2022 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
PnP. Unbelievably open and beautiful. Stunning nose bursting out of the glass with floral notes and a touch of minerality. Continued to impress all night. - 2022 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
PnP. Needed an hour to blow off the reduction and start to open. So much weight and verve but hidden right now behind a wall.
Vogüé Moose
- 2000 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
PnP. Wonderful nose of ripe fruits, fully mature. In a great place and very enjoyable. Even some herbal notes started to develop with more air. Quite nice. - 2002 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Open 2 hours. Very slightly corked which stripped it of everything. Sad. (NR/flawed)
Late Entry Wildcard
- 2014 Domaine Dujac Clos Saint-Denis - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru
PnP. Quite nice if a bit tight at first. But surprisingly more open than many 14s right now. - 1990 Faiveley Chambertin-Clos de Bèze - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Corked as so many were. (NR/flawed)
