I picked up the 2005 Joseph Faiveley Domaine de la Croix Jacquelet Montagny Blanc today for $20. I am glad I did and I’m definitely going back for more. This is a very fresh and vivacious light greenish-gold chard with a deft touch of subtle wood spices accented by lemons, pears, and a delicate but unmistakable floral touch. For a white burg at this price point from the Cote Chalonnaise near the border with Macon, this wine has an uncanny balance between acidity, fruit, wood, a subtle underlying creaminess, and depth/concentration. VG++ with plenty of life ahead of it.
