Tried these two whites last night w/ my huge plate of tomatoes/buratta and (of course) guanciale:

Dom.Gallety Vallee du Rhone CuveeSpeciale AC: Cotes du Vivarais (50% GrenacheBlanc/30% Marsanne/20% Roussanne; oak barrel aged for 24 months; MeBaD; 13%; KermitLynchImports) St.Montan 2015: Pale gold colr; rather fragrant floral/gardenias/GB/honeysuckle light pencilly/oak some spicy/earthy quite attractive nose; lightly tart/tangy/grapefruity rather spicy/GB/floral/honeysuckle light pencilly/oak light earthy/Rhonish flavor; long some tart/tangy rather floral/honeysuckly/GB/gardenias slight pear/Marsanne light oak bit earthy/Rhonish finish; a rather attractive RhoneBlanc one step above the Guigal CdR Blanc. $22.00 (AV)

LaSpinetta Vermentino IGT: ToscanaBianco (13%;; IndigenousSlctns) Casanova Della Spinetta/Terricciola 2018: Pale yellow color; very fragrant Verm/floral/spicy bit herbal/thyme slight chalky very attractive nose; quite tart/tangy/bit metallic strong floral/Verm/spicy/bit herbal slightly lean/wirey bright/zippy flavor; very long rather tart/tangy/metallic bright/floral/Verm/spicy/slight herbal finish; a rather taut/wirey expression of Vermentino but quite attractive; fairly priced at $24.00 (AV)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Vermentino: I’m finding a lot of Tuscan Vermentinos that I like quite a lot. They sometimes tend towards a bit neutral and not the richness of Piemonte Favorita nor the brightness/aromatics of Liguria Vermentino/Pigato. But reliably good.
