TN: Two Whites '20....(short/boring)

Had these two whites over the last few days:

  1. Carlisle GrunerVeltliner SteinerVnyd/SonomaMtn/SonomaCnty (13.9%; 250 cs) Windsor 2020: Light gold color; fairly strong GV/white pepper/floral/gardenias perfumed talc/ligh stony lovely perfumed nose; lightly tart quite rich/lush strong GV/white pepper/floral light chalky flavor; very long/lingering strong GV/white pepper/floral/gardenias light chalky finish; seems not as intense as recent older ones but right off the bus & should put on weight over the next 6 months; still Calif’s best GV at a very fair price. $25.00

  1. Dom. de Chatenoy Clement AC: Menetou-Salon Classique Blanc (14.5%; 100% SauvBlanc; Vinified: SS; www.Clement-Chatenoy.com; Authentic Wine Slctns/Oakland) Isabelle et Pierre Clement/Menetou-Salon/Loire 2020: Light gold color; rather ripe/melony/SB fairly lush light chalky/stony slight herbal quite attractive nose; lightly tangy fairly rich/lush/slightly off-dry ripe/melony/SB/honeyed/slight herbal bit chalky/perfumed talc flavor; very long ripe/melony/SB/honeyed/bit herbal rich/off-dry slight chalky/stony finish; rather atypical of Loire SB w/ emphasis on ripeness; more of a Calif-style SB than Loire but quite a good SB for the price. $20.00 (PrimaIlC)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. The Menetou-Salon came this weekend in my recent Prima IlConsorzia shipment. Not a producer I’d ever had before. Surprisingly un-Loire like because of the ripeness but still quite a good SB.
