After opening 6 btls from my stash that all hit the drain, I pulled something I knew would be drinkable:
- PascalJanvier AC: Coteaux du Loir Cuvee du Rosier (11.5%; www.KermitLynch.com) Ruille/Loir 2012: Rather light color w/ some bricking; rather herbal/earthy/dusty bit dishwater/cracked black pepper/thyme/pungent rather interesting nose; soft/light some earthy/dusty/herbal/thyme bit black pepper/pungent interesting flavor w/ little tannins or structure; short rather herbal/dusty/earthy bit black pepper/pungent finish w/ no tannins; somewhat interesting red but that’s about all you can say in its favor; rather weak/washed out red just one step above a rose; an Oakland wine…no there/there. $19.00 (AV)
- Predator Zin OldVine Lodi (14.0%; www.PredatorWines.com) StHelena 2012: Med.dark color; strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin some earthy/mushroomy/Lodi bit grilled hamburger/meaty/peppery light vanilla/smokey/Am.oak rather interesting/attractive nose; soft/ripe/lush strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/bit chocolaty light vanilla/Am.oak some smokey/forest fire/grilled burger flavor w/ light/soft tannins; med.long soft/lush/ripe strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin/chocolaty classic Lodi earthy/mushroomy some smokey/Am.oak finish w/ light/soft tannins; quite an attractive Lodi Zin w/o being jammy or overripe; suspect it was RO’d.$19.00 (SFW&S)
