Dinner with Porcini crusted short ribs and asparagus risotto.
The Comtes de Champagne was drinking very nicely. Apple and citrus fruit, starting to show nice mature flavors of brioche, good minerality, nice bead of tiny bubbles, nice acid backbone, best showing of this wine I have had. Very good!!
The CdlR was a medium weight wine, vey much red fruit leaning with strawberry and light cherry fruit, smooth soft tannins, nice acidity, some minerality and a medium length finish. Nothing really stands out but everything works together. Very nice.
Finally the 2010 Harlan was showing dark berry fruit, a bunch of tobacco and earthy scents, a nice tannic profile, underbrush, and a long deep finish.
Both reds went nicely with the ribs with porcini rub which had a bit of black pepper in the rub.
