Was really excited to unscrew the cap on this guy, and it did not disappoint. I don’t usually use the word “perfumed” when thinking about a nose, but this brought a big nostril full of potpourri, almost like a lacrima, as weird as that sounds. Tastes like what I associate with petite sirah–all blueberry–although I understand this is predominantly zin and grenache. Not at all fatiguing, this manages to be both extremely uncomplicated and interesting at the same time.
This is a pleasure to consume and it cost me all of $12. Thank God I’m happily married, but if I was planning a 2014 wedding this would be my red.
Just had the fifth cuvee…and actually really liked it too! Easy to drink, not too sweet, some nice spice and florals…more med to lighter bodied which is what I wanted…nice kitchen sink wine! Even drank well the third day.
I drank one of these over the weekend and really enjoyed it. It is a great wine, even if it were twice the price. I had the cuvee II white this week also and it was very good too.
Good notes - I’d have to say this is my favorite under $15 red wine produced in California right now. It does get a bit sweet for me to drink often, but it really is a slutty little red…
Way way too sweet for me. Wife liked it, I take a pass.
Maybe it was the sixth, but it was waaaaaay too sweet for me. I’ll give seven a try.
This is being served at my wedding reception in 2014.
Tried this last night. Probably the best one I’ve had since the first cuvée. Tastes like a cousin to the '12 Old Vine Zin. Not nearly as sweet as the sixth cuvée. Great QPR at $12 ish. Have half a bottle left for tonight. We’ll see how it evolves.
