TN: Ridge Zin LyttonSprings '00..(short/boring)

After three Zins for my orphan stash went down the drain (Biale Dyer’sFarm '91/Biale Aldo’s '91/DeLoach OFS '91), I went elsewhere to find a Zin to have:

  1. Ridge LyttonSprings DryCreekVlly (80% Zin/20% PS; 14.8%; 30% slctd out; bttld Dec 2001; Drk: 10/01-10/06-10/07: PD) 2000: Dark color w/ no bricking; strong Am.oak/vanilla bit smokey/DraperPerfume very spicy licorice/blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/ripe quite dusty/OV very aromatic quite complex/mature Zin nose; rather tart quite dusty/OV strong very spicy/blackberry/Zin/licorice some vanilla/Am.oak/DraperPerfume slight cedary/pencilly/tobaccoy quite complex flavor w/ light smooth/gentle/resolved tannins; very long/lingering bit tart/lean some Am.oak/vanilla strong blackberry/Zin/licorice rather dusty/OV very spicy complex finish w/ light/smooth/integrated tannins; probably about its peak and showing no signs of its age; in a perfect place right now w/ all that classic LS spiciness and that classic Ridge balance. $30.00 (Z-List)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. A rather rare blend for a LS w/ no Carignane or Grenache therein. Presumable mostly/entirely from the old EasternBlock outside the wnry.

The '09, opened last night was in a very good place without any of the aged character. Fully resolved structure and loads of fruit. Loved it. Had some Carignane in it, IIRC.
