TN: Ridge Monte Bello 2022

Infanticide, I know. But still so good.

2022 Ridge Monte Bello

Score is more about potential than current drinking, even though it already is delicious. Decanted for 2 days. Very youthful ruby/purple, very viscous with long lasting legs. Not much visible extract. The nose is intense, initially with lots of red fruit and rhubarb, over time turns more into black fruits, blackberries, creme de cassis, some pencil shavings, crushed peppers, charred wood, clear oak influence, vanilla, coconut. Palate is full bodied, rich, earthy, black fruited, nice acidity. Finishes long with very grippy tannins.
This is clearly a baby. See you again in 10 years.

wow a 2 day decant is something else. ive heard of 24 hr decants but 48 hrs?! gutsy! sounds like it paid off though!

I’d like to take credit for the idea, but what happened was, I poured it in the decanter day 1, tasted it and went “nope”.

And then forgot about it

It most certainly did pay off though!

When 2019 MB was released, I poured a 750 into 3 ounce glass bottles. I distributed those to folks in my wine group. I waited for a few days to open mine. The wine was more than fine.
