TN: Paccot PinotNoir LaColmobe Suisse..(short/boring)

Needed a red last night, so cracked:

  1. Raymond Paccot PinotNoir LaColombe (13%; www.LaColombe.Ch; www.SchatziWines.com; 30% whole-cluster) Fechy/LakeGeneva/Vaud/LaCote/Suisse 2016: Med.light color; quite fragrant/perfumed PN/black cherry/spicy/light peppery some earthy/loamy/Alpine red rather attractive/interesting nose; rather tart/tangy bit lean/hard strong Alpine PN/black cherry/spicy some earthy/loamy/mushroomy flavor w/ light tangy/brisk tannins; very long rather tart/tangy/lean/lithe fairly Alpinr PN/black cherry fairly earthy/loamy finish w/ light brittle tannins; a pretty classic Alpine PN like from Savoie or Sudtirol; bit pricey. $42.00 (AV)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Had the Chasselas from this producer last week and was pretty underwhelmed. This is a much more interesting red. Like most Suisse wines, a bit on the pricey side for what it is.

Hi Tom, amazing what the 3 tier system does to jack up prices. His PN is $16 ex cellar…which Chasselas did you have? His straight Féchy are never anything to write home about, but then again most entry level Chasselas are simple apero wines. His Brez and Bayel versions are usually a big step up. Made the comment to him once that Chasselas was not great for aging and Raymond wandered off and came back with a 40 yr old bottle of Chasselas and a chunk of 36 month Gruyère. That wine was very very good and I am holding back a bottle of '10 Le Brez to see where it goes.

It was just the basic Fechy Chasselas, Andrew. So boring I didn’t even do a TN.
