TN: NV Pierre Péters Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvée de Réserve

  • NV Pierre Péters Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvée de Réserve - France, Champagne, Le Mesnil Sur Oger, Champagne (3/20/2013)
6/12 disgorgment…starts out pretty tart and very crisp with pear, apple, white peach fruit…crunchy underripe fruit. After a little air, still quite tart, but has a pillow plush almond/ginger mousse that fills the mouth…tingly popping bubbles, fresh lemon juice on crushed chalky stones. Slight brioche and white flower perfume as well. Probably needs a year or so to mellow the tartness…but damn tasty, especially for the money! (92 pts.)

Great stuff! Just had one last night, and it might be the best deal going in Champagne. I popped the June 2011 disgorgement, and I think the extra year has really rounded it out. Had a creamy citrus palate, with perfect balancing acidity. Fantastic!

CT seems to have this listed in two different formats. Mine is under “Grand Grand Cru Cuvée de Reserve” and yours is “Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvée de Reserve,” but they’re the same wine. Eric? Are you reading this?

You made that sound absolutely delicious and have made me really want to open something cold and bubbly…but the diet…

After your Brut thread…aren’t you ON a bubbly diet??? champagne

I wish. Im trying to limit my alcohol during the weekdays for calorie reasons. Im down 35 pounds and I think I have about 10 more to go.

This is very high on my list of preferred reasonably priced NV Champagnes, and at the top for Blanc de Blancs. I keep thinking I should be putting some away for aging, as the best bottle I’ve had was about 5 years past disgorgement.

Okay, posted the change request in the CT forums.

Big fan of this also.

Got the 2007 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Grand Cellier d’Or 1er Cru for $59.99. Would be hard pressed to say which I liked better in that price range.

Both excellent.

Pierre Peters is as much fun as you can have with your clothes on.

I recently tried the 2011 and 2012 disgorgements side by side. The extra age does help the wine, thought I still found the 2012 release stunning.

One last thing - buy magnums of this wine. You will not regret it.

Can’t help myself…downed another bottle(wife sick)…SO good on a 95 degree day!

Looks like I do need to buy magnums David…as one 750 bottle just doesn’t cut it! champagne.gif

Told ya

Good spot to buy mags?

I would check with NYC area shops, as Skurnik is the importer.

Where is Nordhoff in this thread?

Cracked one of these for Mothers Day. Gone before I even got to try it, a huge favorite. Thanks to Veronica/Hi-Time/ Berserkerday.

Took a bottle of this to a dinner Friday. Loved it as well!

+1 she pointed me to this as well

I bought a 6 pack and have 2 left, it is so good. Although I have the same disgorgement, I have not gotten the tartness, only soft and elegant citrus, pear and yes, some of the ginger you reference and beautiful acidity. Good stuff. More coming.

A magnum of Pierre Peters is one of my annual New Years bottles.
