TN: NV Morgen Long Chardonnay Memorie II (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley)

  • NV Morgen Long Chardonnay Memorie II - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (10/29/2021)
Brought to a group tasting at Domaine storage. This is a chardonnay Seth makes by a solera system (fractional blending) with chardonnay juice going back to 2014.

White flowers, grapefruit, saffron, chalky minerality, and graham cracker on the nose. There is a slight richness as the wine first hits the palate, with lightly honeyed orchard fruit and ripe grapefruit, which is well-balanced by fresh acidity and seashell mineral tones that linger over a long finish. While this can certainly be aged for several years this is very drinkable and enjoyable now, and doesn’t require a decant. Stunning juice. (94 pts.)

Hey Brian, why not use your considerable influence to get them to do an offer for B-Day this year?

I can ask, but he has a small case production and sold out of most of his wines for the year (he has just one offer annually, in the spring). He also has a handful of distributors who bring his wines to CA, NY/NJ, and the Midwest. Not sure how much supply there will be.

Nice note, Brian. Every single bottle of Seth’s wines I’ve opened has been eye-opening. Stylistically unique and absolutely delicious.
