TN: NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cuvée Rosé Brut; a great bottle!!!

  • NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cuvée Rosé Brut - France, Champagne (3/1/2012)
What a great surprise. I was expecting a nice wine, but this was truly spectacular. This sat in my cellar for 5+ years, and time has been kind. Very stubborn cork; I’m getting weak in my middle age. Light copper colored. Amazing purity of red fruit, with stunning bouquet of strawberry, cherry, and a little citrus. Similar palate, with the addition of burnt sugar and orange notes. Very crisp and fresh but still creamy, with a lively fine mousse. (93 pts.)

Anyone know the disgorgement codes from LP? The only numbers I could find on the bottle were NM-235-001

Cheers,

Warren

The current (or one of the current) disgorgement of the standard NV BdB Brut is far better than it normally is, making it a spectacular deal.

A marvelous surprise for me too, recently, for a wine that aged wonderfully :

Champagne Laurent Perrier brut rosé : 18,5/20
Merveilleuse expression évoluée, après plus de 10 ans en cave. Plénitude d’un superbe rancio, avec des agrumes, des fleurs fanées, des épices … tout en délicatesse. Outsider de choix (qui rappelle un peu Dom Pérignon rosé).

I’ve been a long time fan of this rose especially those with a few years on it that show up with more complexity and depth although the elegance in the younger ones is a treat as well. Love the mags too not to mention the bottle shape. Thanks for the notes.
