TN: NV Benoît Lahaye - Champagne Blanc de Noirs (France, Champagne)

NV Benoît Lahaye Champagne Blanc de Noirs - France, Champagne (5/5/2023)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over a couple hours –
– 100% Pinot Noir –
– Disgorgement: November 2020 –

NOSE: yellow and red fruit mix; strawberry on the aromatic finish; chalky; green/grassy note.

BODY: brassy color, with a hint of rose gold; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: high acidity; juicy – almost sweet – strawberry; interesting green olive note on the finish; bit chalky; saline on the finish; probably fairly divisive, depending on palate preferences, but mine loves it! This disgorgement is a Drink or Hold right now — it has fleshed-out in positive fashion since my last bottle in October 2021, but seems to be in no danger of declining in the near term.

doubt I’d want olives with my strawberries.

Yeah, it sounds bad, but actually wasn’t. It’s not like a dollop of N. Rhone got thrown in there or anything, but I hear ya’. :clinking_glasses:
