TN: Nardini "Aquavite", Grappa Riserva.

The color is a beautiful light gold. The nose reminds me of a Sherry, it has a yeastiness to it like a Fino Sherry, plus a touch of honey and lemon blossom. It is intense and penetrating on the tongue, of course, but has a roundness and gentleness to it from the barrel aging. It is almost sweet, but there is no sugar, of course, but a sense of ripeness. Glides around your tongue and tickles the sides with some heat. The flavor sticks around a long time, naturally, finishing with orange peel, honey and almost a peatiness like great single malt Scotch, from the wood no doubt. I wish I had better “spirit speak” to describe this Grappa. Fabulous. Grade: A.
