I stopped at a tasting at a local wine store and bought some wine, including the 2007 Tardieu-Laurent CDR Les Becs Fin. I paid something like $16 for it, and I really wanted to see what all the excitement over 2007 CDR is all about.
Well, it was $16 I don’t regret spending in the least. Roughly equal parts grenache and syrah, the wine is very dark in the glass and offers aromas of spice and flowers. The palate is peppery with blue fruit, licorice and a pencil lead note. While straight-forward and uncomplicated, it is fun to drink. Makes me want to order a pizza, or maybe grill some lamb. I can’t wait until more 2007s hit the shelves around here.
