Got a last minute phone call from my friend Mark that he was liberating some bottles from his cellar. So I went to his house after work to taste some wines. ended up being a late evening with some good bottles.
2007 Kenneth-Crawford Grenache “Larner Vineyard” - Never heard of this producer before. Raspberry spice nise with cherries on the rich palate. Finished spicy. Good, but not great.
2006 Denner “Ditch Digger” - My first Denner. Floral, blackberry nose rich and layered flavors with a hint of clove. Pretty nice wine.
2000 Bahans Haut Brion - Needs some serious air time, but after a few hours became quite good. Complexd nose, red berries, earth, minerals, and tobacco with sweet cassis flavors and spice.
2006 Samsara Syrah “Ampelos Vineyard” - Never heard of it, but quite tasty. Violets, dark berries, amd oak on the nose with sweet fruit upfront and then nice acid to keep it fresh. Tannic. Very nice bottle.
2003 Vigna Magna reserva RdD - Olive, spice, and sandalwood on the nose. A ripe style with blackberry and cherry. Good, but nothing to special.

1995 Senor de Lesmos Rioja Gran Reserva - Never heard of this producer but this bottle showed very well. Great aromatics of orange peel, cinnamon, clove, and some oak with green pepper, black tea, and black cherry notes. Kept opening up over an hour or two. Nice supprise
2006 Conn Creek Cabernet Franc - Herbal pepper and cherry nose with black fruits on the palate.
Not a bad little eveing for a last minute get together. Nothing was amazing, but we had a good time discussing all the wines.
