TN: Krug MV

this bottle has no number to decode. It’s good but no 164. Needs more fruit, but has lots of bubbles and good acidity—wonder what it is. New label, but no code.

Post a picture of the label. I’m betting it’s not a new label. It probably has a flower trim which makes it 04-11 release. Otherwise it should have a code.

Those are awesome. I have a 6 pack. Much better than the 07 base.

If you still have the cork you can tell when it was disgorged and make an educated guess as to the base year.

cork reads V1311KB

Good info here…

Looks like your bottle was disgorged Jan/Feb 2013. I think there should be an iD code on the back label?

again, no back label id code.

Ahh looks like a grey market import without the normal Krug back label which would include the iD code. Any chance that importer label is covering the normal back label?

So 03 base? Interesting that it was high on acidity and needed more fruit. Although while at Krug they did mention that in 03 once they sorted through the over ripe grapes they did find some smaller ones with loads of acidity.

Could be 2003, 2005, 2006, or 2007 base for the series of iD codes this bottle could be. Going off the Krug website it looks like this bottle would code somewhere in the range of 113001 - 113017. It appears as though 017 was the last batch number for the 113 series but not positive.

Difficult to say for sure without the full iD code, here are all the batches…

113001 - 2005 Base
113002 - 2005 Base
113006 - 2006 Base
113007 - 2003 Base
113008 - 2003 Base
113009 - 2006 Base
113010 - 2007 Base
113017 - 2005 Base

I also have bottles with the back label covered by the importer’s label, mine was pasted directly over the Krug label and was a 163. If you soak the label, the importer label will come off.

Looking like most likely 05. Maybe 06.
The 03s can be eliminated because the description says Jeroboams for both.
The 07 was a half bottle
113017 is a magnum

Good catch Fred, did not see that they have format info for the iD codes.

soaked off the back label. No label under/behind it.
