TN: J. Vidal Fleury Cotes du Rhone 2005

Color: Medium ruby, color is consistent to the rim of the glass, clean and clear.

Nose: Gamey, with a little note of menthol, and red fruit. Just a wee bit of white pepper as well. (Never seen this as a wine descriptor, and my sinuses are a little irritated so take it FWIW)

Palate: Consistent with the nose. Game fowl, red fruit, herbs, medium acidity, tannins are very soft, very round mouthfeel and the finish is not terribly long (10-15 seconds).

Overall perception: This is a nice CdR that seems a little overripe, but not unpleasant. It feels very round in the mouth which prompts me to make the above comment. Good drink though and I’d love to play around with some Gascon food pairings.

Even got a little prune note on the last glass so I feel justified with the slightly overripe observation.
