2006 Domaine les Aphillanthes Côtes du Rhône Villages Cuvée des Galets (Southern Rhone, FR)
Out of the many random bottles of wines enjoyed over the holiday weekend, this CdRV really stood out to me. The most striking characteristic of this wine was its seamless balance. Fruit, acidity, tannins; all were in sync without any one aspect dominating.
14.5% ALC. Lovely nose of red fruits (cherry, strawberry, raspberry), dry earth and white pepper. Medium-bodied. Glides across the entire palate smoothly with a rich mouthfeel, faint glycerin, and an elegant finish.
I’m definitely seeking out the '07!
