TN: IlCenso Praruar TerreSicilianeBianco '15..(short/boring)

Tried last night w/ din/din:

  1. IlCenso Praruar IGT: Terre Siciliane Bianco (100% Catarratto; 13.5%; 13,970 btls; NealRosenthalImports; 20 days on skins + 1 yr in SS) Gaetano Gargano/Palazzo Adriano 2015: Deep golden/burnished bronze bit cloudy color; bit orangey/honeyed strong resiny/phenolic/some cidery almost no fruit rather complex nose; quite tart/austere/hurtey no fruit very strong phenolic/resiny/saline/austere slight cidery/oxidative very savory complex flavor w/ ample astringent tannins; very long very tart/austere/tannic/saline/savory very strong phenolic/resiny bit orangey/honeyed complex finish w/ ample astringent tannins; a very austere/saline skin-contact white that is quite painful to taste on its own; may turn into something really interesting…or maybe not. $32.00 (WoP)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. “Praruar” means “towards gold”. This is a skin-contact white raised in reductive conditions rather than an orange wine. Like many of these extended skin-contact whites, it was not very much fun to drink on its own. With the beans and kabanosy dish, and a bit warmer temperature, it was much more pleasurable. Like many skin-contact whites, it badly needs food with it.
