TN:Haut Bailly 1978 and Giscours 1970

The Haut Bailly was almost exactly what I would have expected from 1978. Not totally ripe, so a slightly green tinge, good acidity and some beautifully developed Graves flavors. The acidity became more dominant as the bottle took in more air and the fruit faded. Even at the end though a nice wine.

This was the first tired bottle of 1970 Giscours I have had. Pleasant at first, it collapsed over an hour and sadly became undrinkable.

That 1970 Giscours was a lovely plum in it’s youth…
