Bright pale gold in color, Nose of tropical fruits, lemon/lime, hay bale, absolute citrus. Big SB here…nice fresh citrus and tropical fruit, creamed up with a little vanilla oak, shows a slight waxy banana peal…like a Pinot Blanc. Intense citrus acidity and alcohol…more burn than I would like. Nice complexities of hay, honey comb, floral spice. But the rubbing alcohol burn kills it for me. Reminds me of the Foley Pinot Blanc, or the Mollydooker Violinist. More cocktail than classic summer sipper. (88 pts.)

Took this wine to Cetrella’s in Half Moon Bay…needed a few hours to open, but became smooth and rich with dark wild berry fruit, cocoa powder spice, well integrated toasted oak, slight green tobacco leaves as well. I like the creamy and polished fruit, would like a little more dried spice to tone down some of the sweetness…like the 2005 Caymus Cab, which I like better. I’ve had the 2004 Ghost Block right after release, and now the 2005…both a little too young. Will wait another year or so to see what age will do. I think the structure and sweet ripe fruit will let it age quite well. +pts (91 pts.)
The Cab is the winner…

sorry to hear about the whites… we both know that it is a necessary evil in the 559/209.

Having another of the '05 cab… I got to say…this is just a great wine to “drink”! It’s not the most complex cab, not the most structured, has a lot of oak and sweet fruit…but I got to tell ya…it’s a pretty darn tasty drink! What I like is the smoothness and richness of the dark fruits…the sweetness, the oak…is well balanced in a tasty way with cocoa powder/graphite/tobacco/mocha. Although the flavors are different…it kind of reminds me of Silver Oak. There is just something about it, by itself, just fun to crack a bottle and drink it! Great stuff! (93 pts.)

Funny…this is probably my 5th or so bottle…I usually have 1 in the cellar…drink it and love it…go out and get another. Every time I taste this wine, I NEED to get more. I should just get it over with, and get a case already!

I have drunk down my stash of Ghost Block CS to 1 bottle each of 2005 and 2006. 2006s are still available in the market but the 2005 is pretty much gone. I thought the 2005 drank much better.

Has anyone tasted the 2007? I received the e-mail last week about its forthcoming release.
