Had these two wines last weekend:
- Via Alpina Sauvignon LaReduction Dd’OC: Friuli (12.5%; GiulianaImprts/Boulder) Giampaolo/Venica 2023: Med.light gold color; fairly strong herbal/SB/cat pee very NZ/SB-like slight pencilly/oak bit floral/melony/SB slight earthy fairly intense SB nose; quite tart/tangy/bit metallic strong herbal/SB/cat pee bit earthy/stony totally dry some metallic/austere flavor; med.long intense cat pee/SB/austere finish that follows flavor; very intense herbal/very cat pee not very attractive expression of SB atypical of Friuli. $18.00 (SFW&S)
- Rosenblum Zin LateHrvst RRV (15.6%; SaH: 36 Brix; RS: 5.6%; U/U) 1992: Med. rather browning quite cloudy color; some volatile/alcoholic quite raisened/pruney/overripe/late hrvsty some boysenberry/Zin light pencilly/oak some oxidized rather uninteresting nose; quite very overripe/pruney/raisened rather alcoholic/volatile quite sweet some earthy/dusty rather oxidized not very complex flavor w/ little tannins; long very raisened/pruney/overripe somewhat oxidative alcoholic finish w/ little tannins; a rather oxidized/late hrvsty/raisened/pruney Zin w/ no fruit remaining; has not developed into anything interesting; a rather unattractive dessert LH Zin.

- I was pretty disappointed in the way the Rosenblum had evolved. On release, it had loads of overripe boysenberry fruit character. But now it shows a LH Zin character that’s quite unattractive.
