TN: Feudo Zirtari Inzolia/Chard '11..(short/boring)

Tried this last night as my salad wine:

  1. Feudo Zirtari IGT: Sicilia (65% Inzolia/35% Chard; 13%; www.smusainc.com) Fossalta di Portogruaro 2011: Med.yellow color; quite fragrant/floral/apple blossom some ripe/pineapple/mango some mineral/earthy bright/lively perfumed nose; bit tart/steely/mineral/chalky/stony/earthy rather perfumed/floral/mango/pineapple rather attractive flavor; med.long some tart/metallic/mineral light floral/apple blossom some ripe/mango/pineapple finish; not the coarse/rustic character of many Sicily whites; a quite attractive white at a great price. $14.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. This was a new producer I’d not seen before, so (of course) had to try it. Inzolia is a grape in WesternSicily used primarily in the production of Marsala. It is also grown in Tuscany under the name Ansonica. Of the 5-6 Inzolias I’ve tried, this was far the best. But see no compelling reason that this should be being planted all up & down the coast of Calif.
