Haven’t had a chance to toast Don’s life since his passing. I have sold Ferrari-Carano for over a decade, and have always liked Fume and Chard, but don’t drink reds that frequently. Dug this out and gave it an hour of air. Black cherries, plum and currant with a touch of cedar on the nose. It is balanced and suave…fruit, acid and wood all harmonize with moderate plus tannin.
Don’t really score wines, and not ones we sell, but (100 points) for Mr. Carano who it seems like I was just sitting at a lunch with yesterday sharing stories. A true gentleman and icon in the industry…I’ll miss you Mr. Carano as will the wine world. Awesome wine on a rainy Seattle Saturday.
