TN: Egly-Oriet 2011 Brut Grand Cru

Vintage 2011, disgorged July 2020, 8 years on the lees, this is an excellent wine.
The only other 2011 I can remember drinking was the Comtes de Champagne which was not so good.
This was a complete bottle of champagne. On the nose there is bright citrus, floral, and yeasty buttery scents. It has very good structure, nice acidity, small persistent bubbles and a long rich finish.
This is definitely an amazing bottle from what is considered a very poor year. YUM!!!

Haven’t had 2011 EO, but did enjoy Comtes. Will grab one of I see one. Great note.

Just a provocative question: why do houses declare vintages in less than good vintages?

Too much $ to be made?

No judgment on your experience/note. Happy you defied expectation. I’ve had some of my best wine moments with “off” vintages.
