TN: Dugat-Py 1999 Mazis Chambertin

Had a bottle of this tonight with dinner at Lola in Dallas. Great nose, initially restrained, that opened up over the two hours of dinner, to show mushrooms, bacon fat, and a touch of sous bois. The color was a deep purple without any hint of fading around the rim. Frankly, it looked like a two year old wine.

The wine still had substantial, but very fine tannins, that softened a bit over the course of dinner (but were still noticeable). Flavors of candied raspberries, black plums, and black cherries burst out when you take the first swig with hints of liquorice in the background. It has a slightly hollow mid palate that filled out a bit as the wine opened up. But a really nice bottle of wine. 94 points with some room for improvement.
