2006 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (5/22/2017)
Great showing. Still young but showing a lot right now. Certainly some upside potential. Light golden in color. The nose has pineapple, minerals, slight lemons, and slight honey. On the palate, deep and complex yet intense. Long finish. Sweet but just a bit and less than expected. What a delicious wine. I meant to drink half and wait a day, but the amount left for day 2 is about 2 or 3 ounces. (95 pts.) -
2009 Lillian Winery Syrah Blue Label - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (5/22/2017)
Wow. Great showing for this wine. I know these are a bit pricey but to me, they compete with the top Syrahs out of California. Inky purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, roasted meats, leather, slight black pepper and slight floral. On the palate, this is delicious. Pop and pour it got better for the hour or two until it was drained. Complex and deep. Tight layers of black raspberries, earth, and leather. Long finish. This was just so delicious and easy to drink, it was hard not gulp it. Loved it. (95 pts.)
