Jon’s arrogant response is a joke.
updated on tasting the Dois on day two (last night). Still showing nothing more. Flavorless, thin, oddly devoid of anything I enjoy in pinot noir. Is it REALLY a 60 point wine? I don’t know. 50 - 70 is the “avoid” range and low 70’s is less than average. For me and anyone I’d advise, it’s an “avoid” wine. We all know points suck anyway.
That this is a wine to avoid, and not to buy, I can certainly agree with.
In other words, DNPIM. Got it.
Garagiste gave me a refund for the 6 I bought even though I drank one and told me to keep the remaining 5 so good for them
. So, ITNOS, will probably let them sit for a while and see what happens. The Patton was ok for $20 but 6 was enough-too many othere deals out there. Looking forward to my six pack of Larkmead.
They have this up on lot18 right now!! Are ya gonna pick up a few??
Wow – they want $46 for 2? There’s a sucker born every minute.
Here’s the tasting note from lot 18…
It never ceases to amaze me how majestic 2008 Oregon Pinots can be. The Dois Irmãos is quite savory, with complex layers of bold pomegranate, tart cherries and red currants. The fruits are just starting to emerge, but the tannins are already nicely integrated and balanced beautifully by lithe acidity, yielding a supple texture. I especially love the lower alcohol, clocking in at a modest 12.8 percent. Overall, this is quite a distinctive and satisfying Pinot, with a spicy finish.
This wine has the stuffing to age five to 10 years, but with an hour of decanting, its complexity will surely start to reveal itself. There’s enough heft here to pair this with grilled pork or heartier pasta dishes.

If they unloaded it for $8-10 bucks @ Costco everyone would be happy. I bought some wine years ago at inflated prices, revalued it downward to what I thought it was really worth so when I drank some, I wasn’t pissed that I was such a sucker. It does still bother me. ![]()
Hello WB,
I am new to the WB board but have been reading reviews for some time now.
Regarding the Dois Irmaos PN 2008 it seems the descriptions are quite accurate from Garagiste and Lot 18. I am a true advocate for Oregon wines and drink Pinot noir regularly. I bought this wine and under no circumstance feel cheated.
This particular wine shows great potential for aging and has complex flavors. It reminds me of a very old school, minimalists style that takes time to develop. Wine to me is a beautiful, brilliant and mysterious. The 2008 Dois Irmaos represents just that. Dark, lush, earthy, medium tannins, solid acidity and peppery fruits . I opened a bottle after my Garagiste order and decided to cellar the remaining.
I am looking forward to re-visiting this wine in 2-3 years!
On another note, I find most of the posts on here slightly elementary and unrefined. If we are all wine lovers let’s act like one and be cognizant of our posts. Maybe think about what you’re writing before you click the submit button.
A.
Ps. I was giving a couple bottles of the 2010 vintage of Dois Irmaos and enjoy it! Light, fruity, low alcohol, acidic, a technically sound wine. If it comes back up on WTSO I will be picking up some on my own. Considering making it my everyday dinner wine.
Ciao.
Antonio,
PM me to pick up several bottles. It’s good to see Oregon officianados enjoying this wine. That’s what it is all about, after all.
Cheers,
Ron
wow. The power of the social internet on display. Was that yelp (or trip advisor, etc) review real or paid for?
Yes, Antonio, you’ve stumbled upon a major shortcoming of this virtual community - sophistication and refinement. But, thankfully, you can make a positive contribution, and I hope you do so. Considering your appreciation of the 2008 Dois Irmaos PN, I’d like to extend to you the opportunity to divest me of a considerable stash of 2002 CdP’s, at a sensible price of course.
I did not know if Antonio was directly referring to my post or the rest of the rabble rowsers over here and will not indulge my ego with any compliments. If I want to be touchy-feely I post over on CT, if I want to get my butt kicked I join the crowd over here. ![]()
BTW I have to hit the submit button before I lose my courage, or after a whole bottle consumed alone. ![]()
2008 Dois Irmãos Winery Pinot Noir Mystery Wine #22 - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (12/13/2012)
On day one, this was horrible, living down to every bad comment on CT. Parching, thin, no fruit, slightly bitter, and off-putting. In short, cooking wine. So I vacuum sealed it and left it on the counter for a couple days at room temp. The bitterness is gone, the fruit comes out, the wine gains both depth and length. To me, it actually drinks a lot like some village Burgundies from mediocre vintages I’ve had for about the same price. Of course, I don’t usually buy village Burgundy from mediocre vintages, and I won’t buy this again, but after a couple days open, it was at least not pour-down-the-sink awful. I ordered this after the firestorm on Berserkers, just to see what the fuss was about. This was not nearly as bad as the Graveirette CdR, but it certainly did not live up to the Rimmerman hyperbole. I like Garagiste in general, and was really happy with their garage sale case, especially, but this particular wine was a failure. (83 pts.)

83 points. Nice to see this wine improving with age. ![]()
It’s also good to know that “MIKEAUKENBALS” liked the wine and gave it an 88 (I give him a 99 for his CT username, btw). Seriously though, the CT scores are really bad for this wine, and it doesn’t appear to be the usual case of someone thinking they were getting a new world fruit bomb and getting an AFWE wine, only to not “get it.” I think there is something off about this wine, which isn’t to say that some people won’t dig it. That being said, I do have a few more of these at home and I will admit I am wrong about the wine, publicly, if somehow they blossom into something acceptable.
Hated it; the only wine in history I wouldn’t even give away to casual drinkers in the office. I saved it for cooking for a while, then poured it out to make room for more drinkable wines. The experience curtailed my buying from Garagiste; only known entities from now on, and fewer of those.
