TN: Dinner with Bad Bunny Part II (more pretty decent wines)

More fun in Puerto Rico with the usual suspects. Wines were on point and the food was strong as well. Wonderful evening.

  • 1971 Maison Leroy Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
PnP. Wonderful color and fill. Super sultry and perfumed nose. Air revealed cocoa nibs and spice box. Palate has hoisin, ash and cigar box with some light and bright red fruit. Continued to improve.
  • 1987 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Double decant 4 hours. Lean and acid driven, but not green at all. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Feels a lot like some recent 08s and probably never going to change it's colors.
  • 1991 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Double decanted 4 hours. A bit of a strange nose. Lots of ripe fruit and you could smell the sun. Palate was loads of fruit and depth. Powerful wine with depth for days.
  • 2002 Maison Leroy Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
PnP. Perfumed nose with some Playdoh character. Purple fruit. Not much else to say.

the 1991 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux drank in 2005 was the bottle that made me seriously fall for burgundy.

Thx for posting Andrew! Lots of love for these wines…… That ‘87 has been a consistently nice wine - savory and properly aged burgundy. Rouget needs time.
