DALLAS - A LITTLE HOOTCH AND SOME TENDER VIDDLES ON A MONDAY NIGHT - Dali Wine Bar, Dallas, TX (12/1/2009)

Eight locals gathered on a rainy Monday night recently for a little hootch and some tender viddles. In attendance were Mr & Mrs PlanoWino (our organizer), wine+art, just a shosh, Employee500, KevinS, PURPLE and yours truly. Flavors of light honey notes, a bit of lemon rind and some roasted almonds. Medium acidity and body. Drink now. Not quite as good as earlier bottles but still good. Took on a completely new dimension with the food, really highlighting the spice notes in both. (93 pts.)

Garnet color in the glass, just slightly dusty looking. Amazing it was this clear and colorful for such an old wine. Nose of leather, truffle, thatch, berries and a dash of camphor. Flavors of red berries, a dash of cherries and a bit of bitters on the finish. Medium acidity, medium to integrated tannins, medium body. I can’t really believe I’m recommending this but drink or hold. I don’t know why you would hold and take a chance but I think it can go even longer than it has. (94 pts.)

Many thanks to our organizer PlanoWino for organizing the event with Dali Wino Bar and Paul Pinnell the Proprietor for hosting us for a very memorably event. Thanks to all that attended to make it such a memorable evening.

Not a bad way at all to spend a rainy Monday evening in Dallas.

Wow, look at you guys! Very nice, sorry I missed it.
