TN: CSM Cold Creek Vineyard Merlot 2001

Got to my folks house and grabbed from basement for dinner, can’t remember the last time I had this, maybe 2003.

No sign of bricking, dark to the rim, nose of bitter chocolate, black raspberry, plum and earth. Palate is dense with integrated tannins, black and red fruits, and cocoa. Proof that great vineyards (this was planted in 1972) and Merlot in WA is a great match, I always say we use Cab to cut Merlot, this 12 year old shows why.

Wish I had forgotten a case downstairs vs. a bottle. Oh well.

Happy Turkey Day all!

*we sell CSM.

Had some awesome vintages of these in the mid eighties. Not sure why they fell off my radar.

I forget about them for aging, but truly one of my favorite vineyards for Cab and Merlot. Will put 3 of each in the cellar each vintage, no guilt drinking them young for the price, and if I forget them like this one, should be a good surprise at 10+ years.

Classic wine from what WA does really well. Had an 05 recently that was great.
