TN - Couple 09 Bourgogne's and others

The 2 bourgogne’s were from Envoyer and are terrific bargains. The Cote Rotie, Barolo and Bordeaux were from Garagiste.

  • 2009 Georges Dubœuf Moulin-à-Vent Domaine des Rosiers - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Moulin-à-Vent (11/16/2011)
Bleh. Not for me on this night. Seemed to be overly sweet, spoofilated. Maybe time will settle it down a bit.
  • 2009 Mongeard-Mugneret Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Dames Huguettes - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits (11/16/2011)
Very nice on pop and pour on night 1. Medium bodied with ripe/sour cherries, soy sauce and a little earth.
Night 2 this wine improved, picked up a little more body and a lot more umph. Terrific value @ < $20 US.
  • NV Elegie Côte-Rôtie - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie (11/7/2011)
Reminded me of a Cru Beaujolais in a ripe year with a little cracked black pepper thrown in. Very nice on night one.
Mellowed a bit on night 2 but still great wine.
  • 2003 Guido Porro Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (11/6/2011)
Popped and noticed heavy cork taint. Let it sit for 30 minutes and it all but disappeared (my wife still noticed it but she has a much better schnoz than me). Enjoyed a quick glass then vacuvinned. Tried again tonight and sure enough, it is corked and undrinkable. Should have finished it off last night.
  • 2007 Château Tire Pé Les Malbecs - France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Contrôlée (10/24/2011)
Fantastic wine. Deep, savory, luscious, full bodied. What can I say, it worked tonight.
  • 2009 Domaine Joseph Voillot Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (9/29/2011)
Pretty nice wine. Sour cherry, earth and very nice mouthfeel on night one. Picked up body but did not fade on nights 3 - 5. Very enjoyable.
