Open this morning, poured about 1 oz, recorked and put away. The initial taste for my palate showed no need to decant. I was pleasantly surprised! Nice red fruit, some gamey notes on the nose along with underbrush, soft but noticeable tannins a a nice finish.
About 8 hours later poured some glasses and this definitely exceeded my expectations! The nose is red cherry fruit, sous bois and some leather and spice. The palate is deep and long, with some ripe tannins on the finish. Everything is in balance and to my palate this is ready to drink, although it probably will last for many more years. The color had virtually no bricking. Still a very pretty medium ruby red. Very nice and I will probably pull the two remaining bottles in the near term.
As an aside I also pulled an 02 Jadot Clos De Beze from storage. Has anyone recently tried this bottling.
