TN: Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 1989

Fully mature and drinking beautifully. Brick-garnet rim. Nose unfurls with dried cherries, cedar chest, graphite, and dried violets. Palate displays red and black fruit layered over an earthy undertone. Medium-bodied with resolved tannins and a lifted, minty finish. Yet another reminder of why we age Bordeaux.

Glad you dodged the 1980s Ducru TCA bullet!

Sounds lovely

Lucky bottle. 2 out of 3 I’ve got to taste were tainted …

Yea. As much maligned as this chateau was in that era, my experience with the 89s has been quite positive. I did have an 86 last year that was cork tainted.

Was it recorked?

No.
