Last May I tasted all the Two Acres (save one) and thought this and the 2002 were the best wines of the lot. Given how well they age (even the older ones were at their peak on their way there) I plan on waiting several years before opening one.
Interesting, I just had a discussion with some guys in another thread about the fact that the 05 I had a few days ago was uninspiring enough for me to pass on the 07 Two Acre. (Had to pass on two bottles to have a solid case.) Different strokes…
I just had this for the first time tonight. Decanted it all day and it was simply fantastic. I’m working my way through my Carlisles trying to figure out what to order.
There is no doubt that alcohol levels are high in Mike’s wines-- but you are surely in the miniscule minority when you say that you have not had a Carlisle that has not been hot. Are you on the mailing list? If so, why?
I said a bit hot . . . can’t say that I have had more than a dozen FWIW. Maybe I am sensitive!
Not on the mailing list. I drink other peoples’ Carlisle.
The minority helps balance out the rest.
No worries, everyone can and should have their own opinion! I was just curious because I have never heard anyone talk about getting heat from Mike’s wines. As I said, the alcohol levels are pretty high (though pretty typical of the varietals in California) so it is amazing that to many people there is no detectable heat.
