The weather has been unseasonably cool in West County so we pulled out some young’n Zinfandels to pair with our bbq. Pedestrian notes but what the heck.

2008 Carlisle Zinfandel Papera Ranch - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/6/2011)
Big Red Baby Killing (Our home): Extremely aromatic when decanted. Rich boysenberry and blackberry notes. A touch hot at first but settled down with some air. Very elegant for a big wine. Savored every sip. The least spicy of the flight. Brought something different to the table. -
2008 Turley Zinfandel Old Vines - USA, California (8/6/2011)
Big Red Baby Killing (Our home): Classic Turley spice on the nose and palate. Deep dark red and black fruit. Medium bodied, balanced acidity, oak, pepper… For $25 this was a good buy but my last one. -
2009 Bedrock Wine Co. Heirloom Wine Dolinsek Ranch - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (8/6/2011)
Big Red Baby Killing (Our home): This bottle has settled down in the past 6 months. Ripe red and black fruit, nice acidity and the tannins are staring to calm down a bit. Showing a little more polish than in January. -
2009 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Stellwagen Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (8/6/2011)
Big Red Baby Killing (Our home): Great nose on this one of dark fruit and spice. Bigger texture than the Dolinsek and a bit more stuffing. Not nearly as tannic. really drinking well right now.
