I’ve mentioned it before, but I really was blown away two years ago when meeting @LenFox for the first time he handed me this bottle, having brought it all the way from NYC to Helsinki, simply as he remembered me writing here that I had not had this bottling with proper age (or at all, for that matter). It took me more than two years to get to it but today a voice inside my head said ”open it” and so I did. Early on it was very good but more along the lines of ”very good for how old it is for a Muscadet”. With enough air it really got going however and truly blossomed. Even without the context a very nice showing and experience, but obviously all the more special due to how it made its way to my glass. I’m just grateful to be part of this community and I’ll try my best to put forward the generosity. A beautiful yellow color, very appropriate for the age. The nose is honeyed with attractively vibrant fruit of peach and tangerine, leesy yeastiness, flint and saline tones. Awesome brightness and freshness to the aromatics. On the palate it is very nicely textured with surprising richness and sucrosity even, but also a minerally streak. The acidity is holding up very respectably all things considered and the wine finishes delicously tight and mouthwatering. Coming off way younger than its 24 years, it is very lively and spry with no indication of any kind of a decline approaching soon. Curiously as it breathes it seems to become only more youthful and more classically Muscadet, with the ripeness calming down considerably. A real marvel.
