2006 Domaine Philippe & Vincent Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Nouvelère - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage (7/10/2011)
I was really taken with this quality for the price Crozes from Garagiste. The fruit carried a bright and snappy red profile; at once palate salivating for rich red meat yet carried a quiet precision that came across as charming. The layered mid palate had little bits of kalmata olive and even slight suggestions of orange peel, layered and balanced from the start. Little or no detectable use of new oak, and while not the longest finish of all time, it certainly was very satisfying. A really, really good deal on Northern Rhone Syrah from Garagiste.
