- Edi Simcic Chard Brda/Slovenia (13.5%; Benvusa/Sausalito) Aleks Simcic/Goriska Brda/Slovenia 2023: Med.gold color; quite attractive ripe/melony/Chard/honeysuckle/honeyed light pencilly/oak light mineral/stony/flinty some complex lovely nose; fairly rich/lush strong Chard/melony/honeyedlight minerally/stony/saline/bit metallic quite rich mineral/Chard flavor; long quite rich/lush tart/savory Chard finish; a rich/lush classic Slovene Chard wine; no signs of any skin contact; quite a lovely Slovene Chard & fairly priced.$43.00 (AV)
- Domita Picpoul de Pinet Ad’OP: Languedoc WW (12.5%; ValkyrieSlctns/Healdsburg) SAS RJ/Castelnau de Guers 2025: Med./yellow color; strong stiny/mineral/flinty/metallic lightly floral/carnation bit simple nose; quite tart/metallic/flinty lightly floral simple flavor; a classic lip-stinger stony rather simple white that doesn’t have much to say; doesn’t hold a candle to a recent Tablas Creek Picpoul. $18.00 (KK)

- There are two Simcics in Gorisk Brda, Edi & Marjan I far prefer the wines of Edi. He has a beautiful vnyd that looks out over the Adriatic far in the distance. His wnry, undergroumd, is filled with a bunch of blow-holes the conveintaly vent cool air into the wnry. For many of them, their depth is unknown & have never been explored. It’s a singular wnry.
